Poker Prince Scotty Says Sorry
The man they call the Prince of Poker offered a royal apology over brutish behavior, especially now that his antics have been blasted across the internet thanks to ESPN and YouTube video mash-ups. Scotty Nguyen, former World Series of Poker main event champion and current champion of the WSOP HORSE event had drunk a few too many during his final table appearance in the latter tournament, and it showed. His bantering and obnoxious behavior have lit up the chat rooms with incised fans, and in reaction Nguyen has published an email apology.

Profits Up for PartyPoker Company
The company that owns the PartyPoker website, PartyGaming PLC, has put up a report showing that profits are up for the first half of the year, but growth is down. PartyGaming PLC owns more than poker sites, they also own bingo, sports betting and roulette sites, all of which contributed to the net profit of US$22.7 million. Revenue was also up, to US$254.8 million from US$217.4 million for the six months to June 30…
John “The Razor” Phan Wins Legends of Poker
Poker pro John “The Razor” Phan is the latest WPT winner after he beat a field of fellow pros and hopeful amateurs to score the win in the World Poker Tour’s Legends of Poker. The event, which took place at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California, paid Phan a $1.1 million prize, after he came back from a short stack and, in his own words, never gave up. This makes the third time Phan has been at a World Poker Tour final table, but his first WPT victory.

World Championship of Online Poker Puts Up Millions
The next big thing in poker this season is the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, where thirty three events will put up millions in tournament guarantees, with several events topping a million dollars each for the prize pool. With events ranging from the ubiquitous No Limit Texas Holdem to Pot Limit Shorthanded Omaha and others, there are a ton of choices in this online poker series, which starts on September 5th. The main event will have a $10 Million guarantee and be played over two days.
