No Neteller for Canadian Poker Players
Online money mover Neteller recently announced that, like US poker players, Canadian players would no longer be able to use their services to move money to and from online poker rooms. Neteller’s InstaCASH service has already been blocked, and the final move to block Canadian customers from moving money to an online gambling site will take place by April 8 th. Swedish Cops Hit Poker Tournament
Swedish police, in a move similar to what happened in Ireland last week, broke up a major poker tournament in Grebbestad. The European Poker Challenge 2007 was set to go as around 700 poker fans had gathered over the weekend to play, but soon they had to find something else to do when the police shut it down. Blackberry Texas Holdem
Blackberry customers are a fiercely loyal crowd of consumers, and, as such, are likely familiar with the company Gameloft, or at least some of its offerings. Creating games for the Blackberry, including its new Pearl incarnation, Gameloft offers games for download from its website for around $7, and that now includes a new version of the popular online poker game. Texas Holdem, which should be able to take advantage of improved graphics and multimedia features on the new machines, joins such games as Midnight Pool and games based on the TV series “Lost”.

Swedish Government Owned Online Poker Turns Profit
The government-owned and -licensed online gaming company known as Svenska Spel AB has recently posted record profits of $685 million for 2006, and it owes its success in a large part to its online poker division. The company took over online poker in Sweden in an effort to move the Swedish population of online poker players from unregulated markets to a regulated one, which seems to be a popular idea as the site grows. Jesper Karrbrink, the CEO of Svenska Spel AB, calls his company’s poker room “a responsible environment within the country’s borders.”
